The Laboratoire Analyse, Géométrie et Applications (usually abbreviated to LAGA) is a research "laboratory" (UMR 7539) associated to the CNRS, the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique. It is attached to the Institut Galilée, which is a component of the Université Paris 13, and also to the Université Paris 8. The research group is made up of about seventy research mathematicians (twelve of whom hold CNRS research positions), seven administrative staff and more than thirty PhD students. In addition, the department acts as a host instution for a number of post-doctoral students and frequently invites guests from abroad (a list of of past visitors is available).
The director of LAGA is Laurence Halpern; the laboratory is comprised of seven research groups, each with its own director:
The laboratory LAGA has a research library and preprints by members of the LAGA are available on the French preprint server HAL. LAGA organizes a number of regular and occasional seminars, in addition to working-groups; it has also hosted a number of conferences. LAGA aims to provide a solid research base for its doctoral students, who may have obtained their Master at any of the Paris universities. In particular it takes students who have obtained the Master "fundamental mathematics" (Paris 13) and the Master "numerical analysis". |
