Announcement and Call for Papers for the
Fourth International Symposium on
Finite Volumes for Complex Applications
- Problems and Perspectives -
July 4-8, 2005 /Marrakech, Morocco

The goal of the symposium is to bring together mathematicians, physicists and engineers who are concerned with Finite Volume Techniques in a wide context. Examples for the broad field of applications are fluid dynamics, magnetohydrodynamics, structural analysis or nuclear physics.

A closer look reveals many interesting phenomena and mathematical or numerical difficulties, such as true error analysis and adaptivity, modelling of multi-phase phenomena or fitting problems, stiff terms in convection/diffusion equations and sources. To overcome existing problems and to find solution methods for future applications requires many efforts and always new developments.

The main issue of the symposium is thus a critical look at the subject. New ideas may be presented, even if they have not yet shown full success. The demonstration of limits or drawbacks of methods is explicitly welcome. Contributions may put main emphasis on theoretical as well as applied topics. Most welcome are contributions, concerned with unsolved or not yet fully solved problems and possible new attempts.

Topics of Main Interest:
Among the wide range of topics main emphasis is put on the following

Conference secretary:

Madamme Khir Zineb

Submission of Papers:

Those wishing to present a contribution at the symposium are invited to submit their paper (10 pages max)  to one of the members of the Organizing Committee.
This (pdf) papers should be sent by email. Papers must arrive no later than February 15, 2005. Selections are made upon originality of the subjects proposed and clarity. Work in progress is welcome. Please indicate if you would rather present your work at an oral session or at a poster session. Both types of contributions (if accepted) will be published.

Notification of acceptance will be forwarded by April 1, 2005. Advises for the lay out of the final paper will be given soon. Proceedings will be available at the symposium. Only papers from registered delegates will be printed.

Guide for Authors

Manuscripts should be prepared for review following standard procedures for scientific publications. Please use the style  provided here in the file FVCA.cls.  A sample is provided also, to serve as a guide for using FVCA.cls.

Proceedings and publication

Contributions will be refereed by the scientific committee of FVCA4, and published in Proceedings. A book of abstracts will be available at the conference in Marrakech. Among these contributions, some will be proposed for publication in the International Journal on Finite Volumes IJFV. The editorial board of IJFV could then ask the involved authors for a more detailed version of their article, which would be subject to the standard process of publication of the review. So please respect the deadlines very strictly.

Conference language:
Papers and presentations must be in English.
