RéGA

The RéGA (réseau des étudiants en géométrie algébrique) is a monthly seminar that is held generally on the first wednesday afternoon of the month, mostly aimed at PhD students and postdocs in the Paris area that work (in a very large sense) in algebraic geometry. It is a time where they can discuss in a comforting setting and where they can acquire basic knowledge of different topics of algebraic geometry. Every time, two people (researchers, PhD, ...) are invited to give a talk (around one hour each) on a subject of their choice with emphasis put on motivations, history rather than the technicalities of the proofs. It seemed to us that this seminar would fill the gap between the various student seminars (generally too elementary for those who know the basic of a given field) and the research seminars (often hard for new students). Similar programs already exist in London, Harvard or Columbia University. The seminar is usually held in the Institut Henri Poincaré, room 314 but due to the current sanitary restrictions, it is currently held online.
